Abstract

Meeting the needs of the labor market are critical to better workforce readiness and to solve skills gaps in secondary education. This study aims to explore early technical credentialing as a pathway to combining academic preparation, occupational training and employment. It covers Career and Technical Education (CTE), industry–education partnerships, work based learning, implementation barriers and workforce deployment strategies. The model proposed focuses on career advisement, industry-accredited credentials, access and partnership between schools, employers, and policy makers. Moreover, it emphasizes the need to measure the employability, participation in the labor force, and economic outcomes. This can help to foster school-to-work links and contribute to sustainable workforce development.
