Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) is revolutionizing healthcare, enhancing diagnostic precision, clinical decision-making, and patient care. This review explores the potential use of AI technologies, such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and generative AI, in clinical decision support. It looks at how it can be used to diagnose disease, to predict risk, to tailor treatment and to manage medications. The review also addresses issues with data quality, algorithmic bias, privacy and interpretability, as well as issues of clinical integration. The new technologies present some potential avenues for future growth. Implementing these technologies safely, thoroughly testing them, and ensuring they are monitored by humans are crucial for improving the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of healthcare delivery.
