Abstract
Nanotechnology has become a revolutionary solution in the field of food and agriculture, offering promising advancements in areas such as nutrient delivery systems, smart packaging, crop protection, and precision agriculture. But, it is extremely difficult to protect these nanoscale inventions with the help of IP systems. This review covers patentability criteria, global IP systems, and challenges involved in the definition, disclosure and realization of nano-enabled technologies. It raises questions of novelties and inventive steps, safety considerations, and ethical issues. Successful patent policies and flexible legal systems are needed to foster innovative developments and ensure responsible innovation and sustainable use of food and agricultural nanotechnologies.
